The Operational Training Unit provide all aspects of public order training, so that South Wales Police officers may effectively carry out day to day frontline policing and specialist duties to tackle public disorder.
The unit is made up of police officers who act as public order advisors. All officers are highly experienced in the operational sphere and have been trained abroad in a number of locations including the USA, Cameroon, Abu Dhabi, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
One of the key responsibilities of the unit is to train officers to police major sporting events, notably at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, and the Liberty Stadium in Swansea. South Wales Police are a UK leader in this field.
