Mr Peter Vaughan
Peter Vaughan became Chief Constable for South Wales Police on January 1st 2010 after a year as Assistant Chief Constable of Communities and Partnerships, and a year as Deputy Chief Constable, however his career in the force began back in 1984.
Rising through the ranks over a period of 19 years he has served in all parts of the force undertaking roles such as of the force Crime and Operations Policy Unit and head of the Community Safety Department.
In 2001 he became the Divisional Commander for Rhondda Cynon Taff, a post he held for just over 2 years before moving to Wiltshire Police in December 2003 on promotion to Assistant Chief Constable.
Mr Vaughan is particularly committed to developing South Wales Police into a top performing force that is truly committed to citizen focused policing.
He is also ACPO Chair of Acquisitive Crime.
