Police staff

You don’t have to become a uniformed officer to join South Wales Police. There are loads of exciting opportunities outside of frontline policing, including roles in business, finance, call handling, ICT, HR, press and media, and administration.

We offer a range of full-time and part-time roles on permanent and temporary contracts, as well as work experience placements.

This way you can enjoy the many benefits of working in the police service without carrying the cuffs.

Please note separate Application Forms must be completed for each post applied for, with the Job Reference clearly indicated.

In accordance with Home Office guidance and the Association of Chief Police Officers’ National Vetting Policy, candidates are reminded that they must have been continually resident in the UK for the three year period immediately before an application is made. This is to satisfy the requirement to vet all applicants in an equitable manner and the UK Police service does not currently have any means of facilitating vetting checks overseas, to the extent required of those who have been resident in the UK. Applicants who cannot be vetted, cannot be appointed.

Please note that as part of our recruitment process we carry out criminal conviction, financial and medical checks for candidates who are recommended for appointment following interview. This will include criminal conviction checks on all members of your family, and other individuals who live at your address. You must inform them that these enquiries will be made.  Convictions or cautions will not necessarily preclude you from appointment; it will depend on the nature and circumstances of the offence.
