What we do..
In line with the vision of South Wales Police the aim of the Minorities Support Unit (MSU) is to work with our communities and partners to create a better safer South Wales for our minority communities.  To achieve this aim the MSU together with Basic Command Units (BCU) based Hate Crime Officers, work with frontline staff to give assistance and support when dealing with our minority communities, particularly in relation to victims of hate crime and critical incidents.  In addition, we are able to provide advice and support on a wide range of matters that may affect or impact on our minority communities.

The Core Priorities of the MSU are:

Increasing the confidence & trust of the minority communities of South Wales in the police

Promoting community cohesion with our partners across the communities of South Wales

Tackling hate crime & hate incidents by providing the best possible service with a view to achieving high levels of victim satisfaction.

Tackling crime and abuses of human rights committed against and within the minority communities of South Wales.

Working with our partners to identify and PREVENT the manifestation of extremism within our communities

To provide specialist advice, support and guidance to the staff and communities of South Wales Police in relation to minority communities cultural and heritage issues
