Appointment / Induction

Police Staff - Appointment / Induction

Once all the background checks are complete and you have been successful in this part of the recruitment process, we will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient appointment date.

You will also receive a telephone call from your new line manager informing you where you need to report to on your first day. We will then write to you confirming details of the terms of your employment with us, enclosing your contract, new employee form and other documents which you must read, sign and return to us. This is so that we can enter your details onto our payroll system.

When you arrive on your first day, your line manager will go through an induction with you, showing you where you will be working, introducing you to your colleagues, and giving you information on health and safety issues.  You will also be invited to attend an induction course with our training department.

You will be guided through an annual electronic personal development review (EPDR) to ensure that we help you develop your professional skills to enhance your performance in your role.

Your employment will be subject to a successful completion of a six month probationary period and you will be employed by South Wales Police Authority.
