Request
- The number of complaints or incidents recorded by your force during the two-year period from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2026 that contained references to “Meta” or “smart” glasses. Please provide a monthly breakdown of the number of complaints/incidents reported.
- The number of complaints or incidents recorded by your force during the two-year period from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2026 concerning “filming without consent”. Please provide a monthly breakdown of the number of complaints/incidents reported.
Response
A search has been completed using our crime and incident recording system (Niche RMS) for all occurrences that contain the key words *meta glasses*, *smart glasses* and *filming without consent* reported between 1st September 2024 and 31st August 2026. Please see the tables below.

The search was initially carried out using the keyword *meta* as requested however having reviewed a number of the records it was apparent that the keyword *meta* was retrieving phrases including but not limited to ‘metal fence’, ‘metal pole’, ‘metal bar’ ‘and ‘scrap metal’.

The accuracy of keyword searches relies on the following: -
- a) Searches rely on the keywords being spelt correctly with no grammatical errors
- b) Searches rely on the keywords actually being mentioned in the Modus Operandi (MO) or the summary description of the record – if they are mentioned anywhere else within the record but not in the MO or summary, then they will not feature in any results.
Please note that this data has been gathered by searching our records management system for offences containing the keywords *meta glasses*, *smart glasses* and *filming without consent* respectively for the relevant time period. The results retrieved are dependent on how the information has been entered onto the system. As such, the information provided should not be considered statistically accurate and/or definitive and therefore, care should be taken when using for any further statistical, analytical or evaluative purposes.
