Request a collision report
We no longer supply collision reports, the process is now as follows:
If you're a solicitor or an insurance agent, you can apply on behalf of your client for a copy of any existing Road Traffic Collision (RTC) information the police have made or hold.
If you're representing yourself in civil proceedings, you can also apply.
You can also request an interview with the police officer who dealt with the road traffic collision, if it has been investigated and finalised.
Information we don't supply
We don't supply RTC information on:
- damage only (complying with Section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, as well as covering non-attendance by South Wales police officers)
- failure to stop after a car park collision
- failure to stop where the registration number is unknown
- CCTV footage - please contact the CCTV operator
Who we can send information to
We'll only send information to the following:
- involved parties or their accredited representative engaged in or contemplating civil proceedings
- insurance companies, trade unions or friendly societies acting on behalf of an involved party
Details that can be released
- finalisation decision of the RTC which includes court proceedings that have been concluded within the court
- date and location of the collision
- names and addresses of the drivers and owners at the time of the collision (where applicable)
- details of injured persons (if applicable)
- vehicle make, model and registration
Additional information
There are extra fees for additional information which can include the following:
- list of witnesses/passengers not injured (if available and consent has been given to release their details via South Wales Police)
- witness statements (if available and consent has been given to release)
- photographs (if available and redacted)
- any other documentation that may be available and is dependent on our records (if applicable)
You can only apply for additional information, if available, after you've received third party details (where applicable) as well as the finalisation decision from South Wales Police.

Costs
For a non-refundable fee of £43.80, we will search the South Wales Police Record Management System to find any information available that can be released. This will cover the cost of sending you third party details if they are found.
