South Wales Police is appealing for information about the unsolved murder of taxi driver John ‘Jack’ Armstrong more than 40 years ago.
Two men charged in connection with an incident involving a firearm in Pyle on Monday, September 22, 2025, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Monday, October 6, charged with multiple offences.
Three men have been sentenced to a total of 75 years for the attempted murder and kidnap of Merthyr man earlier this year.
Four men have been charged in connection with the death of 22-year-old Liam Woolford in Rhydyfelin on September 23.
Renaldo Baptiste, aged 38 (D.O.B 25 January 1987) has been charged with one count of murder and one count of participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group.

We have conducted high‑visibility patrols in the identified areas. A local councillor has asked MTCBC to consider deploying a mobile CCTV camera at the location. We will continue to monitor the area closely, and our Safer Neighbourhood Team will also provide targeted patrols during key times.

A bike was seized in the Town Centre on Bonfire night. Op Atal (a Welsh Road Safety Initiative) continues. We also continue working with Housing Providers to establish where these bikes are being stored as that is a breach of their tenancy rules.
