A man has been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court for multiple hate crimes and assaults.
Rasheed Jama, 20, of no fixed abode, was sentenced today (May 27) to 18 months in prison following a spate of offences between June and September 2025.
Jama had pleaded guilty to four offences which took place on 20 June 2025, which included a religiously aggravated common assault on a police officer who was also subjected to antisemitic abuse, and three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
For an incident on August 28, 2025, Jama had pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker, and two counts of Racially aggravated intentional harassment / alarm / distress - both racial abuse aimed at officers.
For the third incident, on September 11 2025, Jama pleaded guilty to wound / inflict grievous bodily harm without intent and possess an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a hammer.
Police Constable Harrison Taylor said: "No one should be subjected to abuse or violence while they work. There is zero tolerance for any kind of hate crime in our communities and I'm pleased to see this sentence handed down."
