Your neighbourhood policing team
Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Your local team is made up of dedicated officers and PCSOs based in the area, who have the community’s best interests at heart and who are both visible and accessible.
We work closely with residents, community leaders, your local council and other partners to understand and respond to community concerns. By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local issues.

Registering for South Wales Listens also gives you the opportunity to tell your local neighbourhood policing team about the issues that matter most to you, as well as take part in surveys to enable us to better understand concerns in your community.

We've issued a Community Protection Notice and a Criminal Behaviour Order that has now resulted in a male receiving a prison sentence due to persistent breaches.

We have seized illegal vehicles and taken enforcement action.

We have increased stop searches in hotspot areas and are continuing to gather and build on intelligence around particular addresses which will lead to warrants in the future.

We have carried out high-visibility patrols and continue to work with Merthyr Valley Homes to issue Community Protection Notices to individuals.

We’ve worked alongside Merthyr Council and several housing providers to tackle antisocial behaviour, teaming up with the Merthyr CCTV to assist in identifying those responsible.

We’ve carried out plain-clothes operations to identify offenders, working closely with Merthyr Valleys Homes to address issues at certain properties, which has led to tenancy enforcement action, including evictions where necessary.
